The Math and Science teacher approached me with a request to administer a Math test for two students who had missed it. I was a little nervous about this, as I had never done this before. Everything went smoothly, besides having to repeat "Eyes on your own paper." I was proud of myself for this. Right after this, it was time for show and tell. And today was my day!
All 18 students gathered on the carpet and gave me their full attention. After presenting five things about me - where I was from, my favorite activity, what school I go to, my pets and my USF planner, the questions fired away! I think I handled the array of eager hands pretty well. It felt good to be in charge and inspiring.
After this, I jumped straight into another task of correcting morning work on the projector. I had to choose a person to answer each question, and explain why it was right or wrong. At the end, I chose two students who had exhibited good behavior and allowed them to give themselves positive checks. (This is an award for behavior.)
Reading comprehension was next, and I walked around and helped students as necessary. Some of the work is tougher than I thought it would be!
After lunch, it was Math and Science. I was less hands-on and in charge for this, but still assisted students throughout and answered several questions. I worked with one particular student who sat in the back table with me who was having trouble. I think our one on one time really helped.
Overall, I felt very accomplished and can't wait to see what's in store for next week!
